HIGH SCHOOL students from six area schools perform in the first Gogebic Range Honors Band Friday at the Historic Ironwood Theatre, directed by Stephen Grugin, director of bands at Northern Michigan University in Marquette. Musicians from Ironwood, Hurley, Bessemer, Wakefield-Marenisco, Ewen-Trout Creek and Mercer, Wis., performed six pieces from around the world, including "The Great Highland Pipes," a traditional Scottish tune arranged by Mike Hannickel, and "City of Lights" by Andrew Watkin, inspired by Paris. "It's been my pleasure to be here and work with the students," Grugin said. "They've just been wonderful to work with, and that's a testament to their directors, and to the parents."
