Ontonagon student Savannah Haapala works on a science journal outside near the school recently. The student's teacher, Roxie Arnott, a new fourth and fifth grade teacher, attended a conference in Marquette where it was suggested that science journaling was a good writing tool. Arnott tried it with her class, took the kids out into the woods where they scattered to find a quiet spot and journaled about nature, what they saw and heard. Arnott said it was "very successful" and resulted in some very creative pieces.
