IRONWOOD - In a year when deer are scarce in the western Upper Peninsula, Bernard "Bobo" Kolesar, 88, of Ironwood, recovered from a hunting dry spell this season by bagging a spikehorn.
Bobo has been hunting for the past 70 years, but didn't have success for the past few years.
He has brought home a prize buck more often than not. He shot a buck at age 17 and followed with 11 straight years of bagging bucks following that first hunt.
This year, he braved the frigid weather to bag his buck on Nov. 18, which he celebrated in deer camp with his son and nephews who traveled from California to share in the hunting tradition.
