BESSEMER - Mr. and Mrs. Claus made an appearance at the annual holiday event held by the Knights of Columbus and the Daughters of Isabella in Bessemer Sunday morning.
The Knights of Columbus and the Daughters of Isabella held a joint pancake breakfast and bake sale/silent auction at the St. Sebastian School.
The Knights of Columbus organized the breakfast, which included a 50/50 raffle.
The cost of the all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast was $7 per person and free for children under age 12. Around 250 people attended.
The Daughters of Isabella held their 8th annual holiday bake sale and 3rd annual silent auction.
The bake sale included treats prepared by all current members of the Daughters of Isabella.
The silent auction presented themed baskets for all ages.
The auction usually raises around $1,200. All proceeds from the auction go to local food pantries.
The Daughters of Isabella was established in 1948. Their mission statement is "Unity, friendship and charity."
In addition to the local food pantries, the Daughters have held fundraisers for Dove and their scholarship foundation.
