Leslie Dale 'Les' Havenor

MARENISCO, Mich. - Leslie Dale "Les" Havenor, 80, a longtime resident of Marenisco, passed away peacefully Friday evening, Dec. 6, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on Sept. 6, 1933, in Winegar, Wis., the son of Leslie Edward and Pearl Marie (Hebert) Havenor. 

Les proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged on Dec. 10, 1954.  

On Nov. 1, 1958, he was united in marriage to Joann Adamczak in Bessemer.

Les loved to watch all sports, from local basketball games to his favorite team, the Green Bay Packers.  He enjoyed a Sunday ride to the casino and looked forward to winter so he could plow snow.

In earlier years, Les was employed by Kimberly-Clark in Marenisco until their closure and then was a logger.  For many years, he was employed by and retired from the Marenisco School District. 

Les is survived by five children, Christine (Tom) Keast, Debbie Havenor, Leslie Joseph Havenor (Jody Mazes), Lynette Havenor (Gary Auerswald) and LeeRoy Havenor; eight grandchildren, Bobbi, Tessa, JJ, Corey, Chaz, Chelsea, Sophie and Leo; seven great-grandchildren, Kyle, Haley, Grayce, Carissa, Navarrah, Jaici and Haiti; a brother, Russell (Pam); three sisters, Beverly Kaufman, Sharon Kelley and Janet (Robert) Mussatti; his brother-in-law, Gary (Kay) Adams; his sister-in-law, Carolee (Kurt) Oesperreich; several nieces and nephews; other loving relatives; and a host of friends. 

   He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 56 years, Joann, on Nov. 7, 2013; a grandson, Jerome Paul Raymond; a brother, Charles; and a sister, Joyce Rosenau.

Cremation has taken place.

A celebration of Les' life will be announced at a later date.
