IRONWOOD, Mich. - Bruce Alexander Currin, 56, of Ironwood, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at home, with his parents at his side. His death came after a five-year battle with basal cell carcinoma, which metastasized unexpectedly to his lungs.
He was born March 5, 1957, to Cedric and Betty (Kraft) Currin in Midland. They survive. Bruce graduated from H.H. Dow High School in Midland, and Alma College in Alma.
Bruce loved the western Upper Peninsula, and during his 10 years in the Ironwood area he enjoyed photography, snowshoeing, skiing, hiking and kayaking. Prior to his illness he had been employed at the Real Estate Store in Ironwood.
In addition to his parents, Bruce is survived by two brothers, Glenn (Gail) Currin, of Bloomfield Hills, and Eric (Carol) Currin, of Traverse City; one sister, Kathleen Currin, of Ogden, Utah; one nephew, Alexander Currin, of Salt Lake City; two nieces, Lindsey Currin, of Washington, D.C., and Dr. Laura (Kelhem) Salter, of London, England; one grandniece, Maya Marie Salter, of London; and two uncles, Charles Currin, of Mequon, Wis., and Donald (Jeanne) Kraft, of Winter Haven, Fla.
According to his wishes, cremation will take place at the Range Crematory in Hurley, Wis.
A memorial service will be held in Midland at a later date.
Inurnment will be in the Midland Memorial Gardens.
Memorials are preferred to the Friends of the Miners Memorial Heritage Park or Regional Hospice.
Arrangements are by Range Funeral Service and Crematory, Ketola-Burla Funeral Home in Ironwood.
