Gerald 'Jerry' Poaletti

WINTERVILLE, N.C. — Gerald “Jerry” Poaletti, 75, passed away on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014.

Jerry was born Jan. 11, 1938, in Ironwood, Mich., to Joseph Anton and Bertha Silvonen Poaletti. He retired to North Carolina from Silver Spring, Md., as a successful entrepreneur. He stayed busy there working for Wedco, Brown and Wood and Bob Barbour Honda.

He served in the U.S. Army for four years and was stationed at Camp Lejeune. During this time, he met his wife. Jerry was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Virginia “Jinnie” Chambers Poaletti; daughter, Dawn, of Winterville; son, Steven, and wife, Susan, of Moorestown, N.J .; four grandchildren, Kevin Poaletti, of Rexburg, Idaho, Allyson McFadden, of Provo, Utah, Daniel Poaletti, currently serving a mission in Brazil, and Nicholas Poaletti; sister, Sandra Gordon, and husband, Bruce “Doc”; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and cousin and best friend, Ronnie Kamppi, of Savannah, Ga.

A funeral service will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Martinborough Road, Greenville.

Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at the Coastal Carolina Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Greenville.
