PRESQUE ISLE, Wis. - Students of North Lakeland School in Manitowish Waters are the featured artists of the month for January at the Presque Isle Community Library.
Artwork is on display through Feb. 1, with an artists' reception set for Thursday, Jan. 16, from 4 to 6 p.m.
A variety of pieces will be shown, created from media including colored pencil, acrylic paint, cut paper, oil pastel, clay and dioramas. Work was created by past and present NLS students of all grades, both in Ann-Marie Jensen's art class and at home during free time.
The Jan. 16 reception will be hosted by North Lakeland's first chapter of the National Junior Honor Society. The seventh- and eighth-grade students applied and were selected by a panel of teachers. Students were inducted in the society in September. "They are responsible for keeping up a good work ethic in school and a spirit of volunteering, both in school and in the community," Christine Wallace, an NLS spokesperson, said.
The students will provide refreshments for the reception.
Artwork may be viewed during regular library hours: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday, 4-9 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m.-noon.
