ASHLAND, Wis. - A pickup truck was demolished in a Wednesday afternoon accident on U.S. 2, near the top of Birch Hill, in the Odanah area.
A semi tractor and trailer registered to the Redline company, of Saginaw, Mich., was involved in a collision with the Dodge truck around 1:30 p.m.
The Ashland County Sheriff's Department was investigating the accident that slowed traffic and left debris on the roadway.
The mangled passenger vehicle ended up on the bed of a tow truck, ready to be towed away, while the semi tractor and trailer jackknifed and ended up in the ditch, with the cab end pointed toward Ashland.
Deputies at the scene said they couldn't comment if there were any injuries. Passing motorists said ambulances were dispatched to the scene.
There was light snow earlier in the day and some black ice on area highways, but it wasn't immediately determined if that was a factor in the accident.
An Ashland wrecker service pulled the damaged semi out of the snow in the ditch.
