BESSEMER, Mich. - Glen B. Perttula, 64, of Bessemer, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, in his home.
He was born Feb. 7, 1950, in Ironwood, the son of the late Leonard Nelo and Annette Selma (Johnson) Perttula.
Glen attended A.D. Johnston High School, graduating in 1965. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from May 5, 1971, until May 14, 1974, attaining the rank of corporal. He received the National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Rifle Expert Badge. He later attended Gogebic Community College in Ironwood, taking classes in small engine repair.
Glen enjoyed fishing, hunting and being outdoors. He was a member of the North Bessemer Hunting Club.
He survived by his daughters, Heather Perttula, of Glidden, Wis., and Jessica (Chris) Morgan, of Arizona; four grandchildren; and a brother, Leonard, of Wakefield.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, Feb. 16, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the VFW in Bessemer in his honor.
