OAKFIELD, Wis. - Roderick David Leo Minkin, 77, of Oakfield, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014 at his residence.
He was born Dec. 25, 1936, in Ironwood, Mich., the son of Leo and Marion Minkin. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1954 to 1957, and served in the Reserves until 1962. Roderick worked for Wisconsin Power and Light as an electrician retiring in 1994.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 210 and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed doing yard work and traveling.
He is survived by his dear friend and companion, Mary Walter, Oakfield; one son, Michael (Anne) Minkin, Midland, Texas; three grandchildren, Mindy (Keven) Portz, Steven Minkin and Michael Minkin Jr .; five great-grandchildren; and a special cousin, May Hendrickson, Gile. He is further survived by Mary's children, Eileen Sorgent, Mayville, and her children, Ashley and Tyler Sorgent; Cecelia Eggers, Mayville, and her children, Michael, Melanie and Savannah Eggers; and John Eggers, Wild Rose, and his daughter, Paige Eggers.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation and a funeral service were held Monday, Feb. 17, at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home in Fond du Lac.
Cremation followed the traditional services.
Memorials can be directed to Gogebic Community College, Ironwood, or American Legion Post 210, Waupun, in Roderick's name.
