LANSING (AP) - Michigan Lt. Gov. has led state officials in taking a cold plunge for the sake of Special Olympics.
Calley was the first to jump into a pool of water outside the Michigan Capitol on Thursday on a day of single-digit temperatures.
MLive.com reports that organizers say participants raised at least $30,000 for Special Olympics Michigan, which hosts year-round sporting events for athletes with disabilities.
Calley calls the Special Olympics "a critical part of the landscape of inclusion in our state."
The temperature read 6 degrees at the time of the event Thursday afternoon.
