WASHINGTON, D.C. - Elizabeth M."Beth" Redwing went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.
"Liz" or "Lizzie" to her childhood friends was born on Nov. 30, 1966, at Grand View Hospital in Ironwood, Mich., daughter of the late Robert "Bob" and Marilyn (Korpi) Byrns of Hurley, Wis. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School and graduated from J.E. Murphy High School in Hurley in 1985. Soon after graduation, Beth left Hurley to attend basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, transferring to Austin, Texas, and then on to duty in the Panama Canal, and eventually was assigned to Bolling AFB in Washington, D.C., attaining the rank of staff sergeant. Beth was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force in 1996.
In May 1987, Beth married Frank Redwing in Austin. They have two children, Frank Jr. and Fawn Marie. Cheerful, compassionate and kind, Beth was loved by all who knew her. She was a constant inspiration with her calm, reassuring manner.
One of her great joys was her horse, Lucky, fulfillment of a childhood dream to have her own horse. She also enjoyed beadwork, which she gave as gifts to family and friends. Beth loved the outdoors, walking their dogs and family fishing trips.
Surviving are her husband, Frank, son, Frank Jr., and daughter, Marie, of the Washington D.C. area; Debi (Gene) Synkelma, Eugene, Ore .; Kathleen Byrns, Hurley; Barbara (Jim) Wilman, Ironwood; William (Connie) Byrns, Alaska; Patricia (Greg) Paavola, Marquette, Mich .; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Beth was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Joseph and Robert John Jr.
Out of respect for Beth's wishes, cremation has taken place.
Date and time for Mass of Christian Burial, Rite of Committal and interment at St Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Hurley, will be announced at a later date.
