Wakefield library honors Eugene Maki

WAKEFIELD - The Wakefield Public Library held an open house for former library board president Eugene Maki Sunday afternoon.

Maki served as board president for 50 years, until this past winter when he decided to step down from the position.

"Well, I want to give somebody else a chance," said Maki, "I'll miss everything they have and the people who work here."

"I'll miss his leadership and knowledge of not just our library, but all libraries," said library director Denise Engel. "He's the library's biggest supporter."

"This is a nice library; there isn't much they don't have," Maki said.

Cake and hot cocoa were served at the event.
