LOCAL HISTORIAN Larry Peterson talks about Ironwood's history with people touring the Memorial Building Tuesday evening. An open house offered tours and coffee and cake were served as part of the city's 125th birthday celebration. Peterson walked visitors through a maze of displays with photos and other items on the building's second floor, telling stories of Ironwood and the region. While the town of Ironwood was settled in the spring of 1885 and incorporated as a village in 1887, it became a city on April 8, 1889.
