Serving Gogebic, Iron and Ontonagon Counties
IRONWOOD - More than 100 families attended Family Fun Night at the Ironwood Memorial Building Tuesday.
This is the sixth annual event, and families were able to attend at no cost.
According to Sue Guenard, director of the Great Start Collaborative through the Gogebic-Ontonagon Intermediate School District, the event gets more popular each year.
"Especially this year, with the weather not so nice, it gave families and opportunity to get out of the house," Guenard said.
At Family Fun Night, children are able to participate in a variety of activities, including arts and crafts, exercise and reading and writing.
This year, 21 different businesses, community agencies, organizations and civic groups attended the event. Some groups included Aspirus Grand View, Ironwood Public Safety Department, Ironwood Carnegie Library, HOPE Animal Shelter, Downtown Art Place, Ironwood Dance Company and the Ironwood Booster Club.
Each table provided activities for kids to promote learning and school or kindergarten readiness.
"Any family interested or wanting to learn more about school readiness should attend this awesome event," Guenard said. "Everyone has a lot of fun."
