IRONWOOD, Mich. - Vivian A. Kleidon, 96, of Ironwood, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014, in Ironwood.
She was born Feb. 7, 1918, in Ironwood, daughter of the late Charles and Lempi (Hakko) Maki. Vivian attended Ironwood schools and graduated from the Luther L. Wright High School. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Quilters Club at the church. Vivian volunteered at nursing homes, enjoyed baking and made great gumdrop cake.
She was married to Edmund H. Kleidon in Chicago on Aug. 2, 1941. He preceded her in death on May 17, 1987.
Vivian is survived by her children, Judith (James) Donlan, of Watersmeet, Susan Edelman, of North Bend, Wash., Carol Bastian, of Palos Heights, Ill., and Charles Kleidon, of Chicago; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Besides her parents and husband, Vivian was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane; a brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Vienna Maki; a sister and brother-in-law, Dora and Gerald Minkin; and a son-in-law, Robert Bastian.
Cremation will take place at the Range Crematory in Hurley, Wis.
A memorial service will take place at a later date.
Inurnment will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Ironwood.
Vivian's family would like to thank the staff at the Westgate Nursing, Rehabilitation and Assisted Living Community, as well as Regional Hospice, for the wonderful care that was given to her.
Her family has entrusted Range Funeral Service Inc. and the Ketola-Burla Funeral Home of Ironwood and Hurley with planning the funeral arrangements.
