Susan will always be fondly remembered for her quick sense of humor, wit, creativity and her love of others, being host to many parties and entertaining. Holidays were always special for Susan, particularly celebrating Christmas with family at their chalet at Big Powderhorn Mountain in Bessemer, Mich. Everyone always looked forward to a horse and sleigh ride as part of the Christmas celebration. Fun was had skiing and snowmobiling by friends and family each winter.
Canadian fishing trips and shore lunches also brought some of the fondest family memories as the kids grew up.
Susan’s hobbies were her gardening and needlepointing to perfection. She always enjoyed a tennis game, golf and of course, cheering on the Packers.
Susan and John eventually settled into their summer cottage in Egg Harbor, sharing their love of the water, spectacular sunsets and “all too often” watching their boat being towed into their dock. The Casey family and friends were also very well known for the Bula Parties in the harbor park. Guests who stayed on the weekends quickly learned they would be woken by the “crack of ice.”
Susan and John shared the passion and adventure of traveling to many destinations overseas, often traveling to Ireland, Australia and Hawaii several times for John’s polo matches. Susan and John also traveled overseas to England for John’s construction business.
Susan was preceded in death by her husband, John Joseph Casey; her sister, Patricia Laws; and daughter, Shannon Casey.
