IRONWOOD - Three locals gathered at the historical depot park Sunday afternoon to take part in a bike ride from Ironwood to Bessemer.
The Gogebic Range bike ride was scheduled to begin at the park Sunday, but it was cancelled due to weather.
Regardless, Sandy and Faith Pera, of Wakefield, began their ride at 1 p.m. Sunday, just as scheduled. "We're hoping to beat the rain," Sandy said.
The Peras have been participating in this annual race for the past five years.
Steve Lenzo also arrived despite the race cancellation. "I was at the bike store and saw a brochure for this race," he said. "It seemed like a fun thing to do today."
