Two of Big Snow Country’s ski hills plan to merge.
Blackjack LLC, owner of Blackjack Mountain Resort, near Bessemer, has executed an agreement to acquire the assets of the “Grand Daddy” of Gogebic Range ski hills, Indianhead Mountain, near Wakefield.
The proposed transaction is targeted to close by the end of the month, subject to completion of the terms of the agreement, said Barry Bolich, general manager and executive vice president of Indianhead.
The purchase price and terms were not disclosed.
Bolich indicated a one-ticket package will be good for both resorts, calling it a “single ski and snowboard experience.
“We already have the best snow, and together we would have the best terrain and the best runs,” he said.
“We are extremely excited about the opportunity to operate these resorts and tailor our offerings to produce the best possible ski experience to Midwest skiers,” he said.
The resorts are coming off a winter when more than 200 inches of snow fell, but bitter cold temperatures prevailed.
