MADISON, Wis. — Gloria Jean Kaye, 71, of Madison, and a native of Ironwood, Mich., died Thursday, March 20, 2014, in her home.
The former Gloria Jean Tiziani, born Sept. 7, 1942, in Bessemer Township, Mich., was the daughter of the late Joseph and Regina (Bunjevac) Tiziani. She attended elementary school in Ironwood Township and graduated from St. Ambrose High School in 1960. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Northern Michigan University in 1964, taught for a year in White Pine, Mich., for several years at East High School in Green Bay, and later in Janesville. She then earned a master’s degree in counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and worked as a guidance counselor and taught social studies at De Forest High School, De Forest, Wis., until her retirement.
Gloria was an avid golfer and she loved her yellow Chevelle convertible.
She married Brian Kaye in 1973. They divorced in 1979.
Surviving are her aunts and uncle, Ann Clark, Green, S.C., Mary Slade, Aitkin, Minn., Rose White and Julie Brew, both of Minneapolis, Ellen (Tiziani) Sigmund, Novi, Mich., Ann Tiziani, St. Paul, Minn., and Elizabeth Tiziani and John (Pat) Bunjevac, both of Ironwood; nieces, Lynn Torossian, Milford, Mich., and Dr. Lisa Pierce, Fulton, Mo .; and many cousins.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Tiziani, in 2013.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, July 2, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation in the St. Joseph Family Room at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood, with the Rev. Robb Jurkovich, celebrant.
Rite of Committal and interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.
Luncheon will be served at the Elk and Hound in Ironwood immediately upon return from the cemetery.
