Brian K. Lindquist

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Brian K. Lindquist, 58, of Sunnyside Ave., Ironwood, died unexpectedly Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at home.

He was born Jan. 22, 1956, in Ironwood, son of Kenneth and the late Mae (Pearson) Lindquist, attended Sleight and Central elementary schools and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1974. He then received an associate degree in electrical engineering from Michigan Tech University in 1976.

Returning to Ironwood, Brian worked with his father at Lindquist Electric, Inc. as a master electrician, owning and operating the business up until his untimely death. Numerous commercial projects in the area, notably the Luther L. Wright High School renovation and Aspirus Grand View Hospital emergency room construction, to name a few, were guided by his expertise.

Brian was a former member and past president of the Ironwood Area Jaycees and served as a local and regional director. He was a 20-year member of the Ironwood Planning Commission, current member of the Norrie Amateur Sports Club, served as past president of the Ironwood Red Devil Booster Club, and was a former member of the Ironwood Elks Lodge.

He was very involved with Festival Ironwood over the years; his time and talents were greatly appreciated and will be deeply missed. Brian was also a proud Green Bay Packers shareholder and season ticket-holder. He especially loved being at the cottage on Little Star Lake in Manitowish Waters, Wis., with his family.

We will all miss him.

On June 18, 1983, Brian was married to the former Marie Sokolowski at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Ironwood by the late Rev. Frank Hollenbach. Marie survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Monica Lindquist (Tony), Galesville, Wis., and Krista Lindquist, Osceola, Wis .; a granddaughter, Jaelyn Lindquist; sister, Susie (Terry) Nelmark, Duluth, Minn .; his father, Ken Lindquist, Ironwood; mother-in-law, Vivian Sokolowski, Hurley, Wis .; sisters-and brothers-in-law, Patty (Jim) King, Ironwood, Jerry (Cheryl) Sokolowski, Ironwood, Michael Sokolowski, Eau Claire, Wis., David (Ludy) Sokolowski, Jacksonville, N.C., Joan Minnema, Park Falls, Wis., and John (Susan) Sokolowski, Oshkosh, Wis .; two aunts, Jean Maki, Wakefield, and Jean Wietzke, New Berlin, Wis .; an uncle, Don Forslund, Green Bay, Wis .; 16 nieces and nephews, Eric (Jennifer) Nelmark, Melissa (Al) Hanson, Kristie (Chad) Freyre, Steve (Kristen) King, Jerry Sokolowski Jr., Bryan (Randi) Sokolowski, David, Nathan (Jessica), Sara and Lauren Sokolowski, Shawn (Krista) Synkelma, Luke Minnema, James Lee and Sophia Sokolowski, and Callie and Mitchell Sokolowski; numerous cousins; and special friend, his big black dog Daisy.

Besides his mother, Mae, who died May 11, 2011, Brian was predeceased by his father-in-law, John Sokolowski, on March 9, 2009.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, July 19, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation in the St. Joseph Family Room beginning at 9:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood, with the Rev. Robb Jurkovich, celebrant.

Rite of Committal and interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.

Luncheon will be served in the parish hall immediately upon return from the cemetery.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Doug Westenberger, John Balyeat, Josh Pekuri and Dave Vuorenmaa.
