PANAMA CITY, Fla. - Jonis John Braghini passed away peacefully on Friday, July 18, 2014, at Covenant Hospice Bay Medical after a courageous battle with cancer.
John was born Dec. 5, 1930, in Bessemer, Mich. At 17, John joined the U.S. Air Force and honorably served his country. After leaving the Air Force, he joined IBM in Boca Raton, where he was part of the team that developed the first personal computer.
After retirement from IBM, John moved to Panama City to be closer to his grandsons. He made numerous friends while working in the electronics department at Walmart and as an active member of the St. Andrews Baptist Church Sunday School.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cesira Grandelis Braghini and Louis Ernest Braghini; and a sister, Giacomina "Rena" Vittone.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty White Braghini; his daughter, Gail Braghini Bernstein (Phil); his two grandsons, Eric Daniel Bernstein and Alex Matthew Bernstein; a brother, Arthur Braghini; and a sister, Lois Hobson (Dennis).
The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, at Wilson Funeral Home, 214 Airport Road, Panama City.
