ASHLAND, Wis. - Dolores Elaine Sorrels, 88, of Gurney, Wis., died Wednesday, July 30, 2014, in Ashland.
She was born Oct. 15, 1925, in Twin Valley, Minn., daughter of the late August and Freida (Gade) Luedke. She was a longtime Gurney resident.
On Oct. 15, 1946, she was united in marriage with Cyril P. Sorrels in Williams, Minn.
Dolores was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Little Girl's Point. She was also a member of the Saxon American Legion Auxiliary.
For many years, Dolores assisted her husband, Cy, on their potato farm in Gurney. Dolores was not only Cy's sweetheart, but the sweetheart of the community. Her coffee pot was always on.
She is survived by her husband, Cy, of Gurney; two sons, Stephen of Gurney and Doug (Patricia) of Mellen; two daughters, Cheryl (Dave) Asplund of Champlin, Minn., and Beverly (Jeff) Daugherty of Muskegon, Mich., eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Dolores was preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard and Donald Luedke.
Cremation has taken place at the Range Crematory in Hurley.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church at Little Girl's Point. Deacon Larry Oehlerking will officiate.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014, from 4-6 p.m. at the Ketola-Burla Funeral Home, 635 East Ayer St., Ironwood.
