IRONWOOD - Preparations are underway for the fourth annual HIT Idol competition at the Historic Ironwood Theatre.
Auditions are scheduled for Oct. 3-4 at the Historic Ironwood Theatre, and all young vocalists from throughout the Gogebic Range and northern Wisconsin are invited to audition.
Contestants will be placed in three groups for the competition, including youth, high school or young adults, ranging from fifth grade to age 29.
Auditions are Oct. 3 from 3-6 p.m., Oct. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Oct. 5 from noon to 4 p.m.
Once the final vocalists are selected, they will perform at the theatre on Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. The following evening, Nov. 8, the winners from each category will be announced and will perform their songs as the opening act for American Idol season 10 finalist Naima Adedapo.
Last year's winners in the youth category include Hurley student Hadyn Lamerand and Ewen-Trout Creek student Ava Moilanen, and winners in the high school category were Ironwood students Ethan Puisto and Robert Burchell.
The 2013 young adult winners were Erika Hamlin, of Montreal, Wis., and Jennifer Sambrano, of Ironwood.
