HURLEY, Wis. - Wanda Bolich, 100, formerly of Ironwood, Mich., died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014, in Hurley.
She was born July 8,1914, in Ironwood, the daughter of the late Albert and Martina (Novak) Kasper.
Wanda attended local schools and was a waitress at the St. James Hotel in Ironwood.
On Aug. 20, 1934, she was united in marriage to John Bolich at St. Michael's Catholic Church by the late Rev. Charles Szygula. John preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 1977.
With her husband she owned and operated a retail grocery and liquor store in Jessieville for many years until retirement.
Wanda was an avid gardener and seamstress. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church and a former member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and St. Michael's Catholic Church.
She is survived by two sons, Jerome Bolich, Hurley, and Donald (Mary Ann) Bolich, Ironwood; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John Jr .; daughters-in-law, Joan Bolich and Elaine Bolich; a brother, Alex Kasper; and sisters, Estelle Haavisto and Victoria King.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood. Rev Robb Jurkovich will be the celebrant. Wanda's family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass in the St. Joseph's Family Room at the church.
Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Casey Bolich, Dan Bolich, Rick Jodsass, Tom D'Innocenzo, Chad Longhini, Barry Bolich and Bill Stutz.
A luncheon will follow at the church after the graveside service.
