Anthony G. 'Tony' Bozinski

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Anthony G. "Tony" Bozinski, 93, of Hurley, Wis., died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at Westgate Nursing, Rehabilitation and Assisted Living Community in Ironwood.

He was born May 25, 1921, in Superior, Wis., son of the late Michael and Pauline (Gustors) Bozinski, and graduated from Superior Central High School in 1939. He entered the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942, proudly serving his country in the China-Burma-India Theater of Operations during World War II, and was honorably discharged in 1946 .

Following his discharge, he was employed at Great Lakes Coal and Dock Company for seven years, then at Lakehead Pipeline in Superior, Deer River, Minn., and at the Saxon, Wis., station, retiring as mechanical supervisor after 30 years of service in 1983.

Tony was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley and a life member of Iron County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1580. He served on the Hurley City Council and the police commission for 10 years, and was a volunteer fireman for the city of Hurley for 15 years. His hobbies included fishing, gardening and growing flowers, and he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his birthday parties.

On May 10, 1947, he was united in marriage to the former Jeanette Orlaski, of Superior, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Superior, by the late Rev. Nowotski. Jeanette preceded him in death on Feb. 13, 2010.

Surviving are a son, Joseph (Sandra), Wausau, Wis .; two daughters, Carol Cvar, Buhl, Minn., and Barbara (Richard) Juth, Coon Rapids, Minn .; seven grandchildren, Brenda Cvar, Lindstrom, Minn., Brian Cvar, Mosinee, Wis., Melissa (Rob) Dochniak, Isanti, Minn., Lisa Juth, Blaine, Minn., Steven Juth, Everett, Wash., Jason Holm, Seattle, Wash., and Jeremy Bozinski, Wausau; two great-grandchildren, Connor Cvar and Liam Dochniak; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and wife, Tony was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Charles and Edward; and son-in-law, Robert Cvar.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley, with the Rev. Frank Kordek OFM, celebrant.

Rite of Committal and interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hurley, where full military honors will be accorded by the combined Hurley American Legion Post 58 and Iron County VFW Post 1580 Honor Guard.

Luncheon will be served at the Iron Nugget in downtown Hurley immediately upon return from the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tony's grandchildren, Brenda and Brian Cvar, Melissa Dochniak, Lisa and Steven Juth and Jeremy Bozinski.
