IRONWOOD - Friends of the Library proved Saturday that despite increased Internet use, reading books is as popular as ever.
Good numbers of readers turned out for a used book sale in the auditorium at the Memorial Building on a sunny fall day.
Organizers of the event said it was about the 15th year of the sale, which helps the Ironwood Carnegie buy books and supports programs at the library.
Books were donated by the public for the sale and were set up in specific categories.
Members of the group spent Friday setting up tables for the books in the expansive auditorium.
Refreshments were provided during the event.
There were separate tables for audio books, CDs and DVDs.
"The book sale helps the community by recycling good, quality books and other media at low prices, and supporting the library's high-quality programming and services in a time of decreased public funding," librarian Elaine Erickson said.
