CENTERLINE, Mich. — Ernest Isaac Koski, 65, of Centerline, died suddenly at his home on Oct. 19, 2014.
He was born in Ontonagon on Feb. 21, 1949, the son of Eino and Mabel (Nyquist) Koski, of White Pine.
“Ernie,” or “Isaac” as friends and relatives called him, grew up to be an outstanding basketball player and cross-country runner.
He was proud to have competed as a White Pine Warrior and graduated from White Pine High School in 1967.
After high school, Ernie went on to learn the bricklayer trade at his father’s side. Together, their work can be found throughout the western Upper Peninsula.
Later he became a member of the Operating Engineers Local 324. He worked for numerous contractors around the Detroit-metro area as a crane operator.
Ernie married Diana DeLuca in December 1979. The wedding was a wonderful event that is fondly remembered by friends and relatives.
In addition to Diana, Ernie is survived by his brothers, Dale (Eileen) Koski and Gilbert (Diane) Koski; and his sisters, Sigrid (Philip) Kolehmainen and Kariina (Paul) Kelson.
Ernie will always be remembered for his laughter and his kindness, especially to his nieces and nephews.
