HURLEY - Students at the Hurley K-12 School got into the Halloween spirit Friday.
Halloween capped off "Red Ribbon Week" at the school, highlighting anti-drinking, anti-bullying and anti-drugs.
Students dressed up throughout the week in different themes to show their support of being drug- and alcohol-free and to stop bullying.
On Friday, many students dressed in costumes, but another common theme was orange and black, in honor of the varsity football team's game at night against Spring Valley in the second round of the WIAA Division 6 playoffs.
"With having 'Red Ribbon Week' this week, we had so much participation," elementary principal Kevin Genisot said. "During our citizens of the month ceremony on Wednesday, we had many kids dressed in red to show their support, and overall, the school spirit is strong. It's never been so strong at Hurley.
"We're really proud of these kids."
Throughout the morning, zombies, werewolves, princesses, Transformers, football players and even Santa Claus himself made an early visit to the school.
Parents and visitors sat in the auditorium, while the students paraded in their costumes.
After exiting the stage, the students then went down the middle and high school hallways to show their costumes to the older students.
Once the parade ended, students spent the rest of the morning at the fun frolic, hosted by the PTO.
Students played games, ate snacks and played with friends, before the school day ended early at 12:30 p.m.
"The PTO fun frolic was outstanding," Genisot said. "We couldn't be happier with the PTO for all that they do for kids, and this was another example. The kids were well behaved, and the event was well organized."
