Joan Recla

HURLEY, Wis. - Joan Recla, 77, of Ironwood, Mich., died Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, at Sky View Nursing Center in Hurley.

The former Joan Lynch was born Nov. 24, 1936, in Ironwood, daughter of the late William Lynch and Grace (Erspamer) Harding. She attended Sleight School and Luther L. Wright High School, and worked as a waitress at the Greyhound Bus Station in downtown Ironwood.

She married Lawrence "Larry" Recla on Dec. 13, 1957, in Silver City, Minn. He preceded her in death on Aug. 30, 2013.

Joan was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Ironwood. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, making wood and going to camp with Larry. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are a son, Michael (Linda), and daughter, Cynthia (Larry) Koski, both of Ironwood; four grandchildren, Paul (Kristina) Recla, Ironwood, Christie Recla and Justin Recla (Brooke Wiitanen), both of Woodbury, Minn., and Ryan Koski, Ironwood; 11 great-grandchildren, Mason, Logan, Daija, Forrest, Haidi, Jaici, Cole, Cadence, Hayden, London and Austin; two sisters, Sally Fontecchio (Tom Wanden), Ironwood, and Judy (Earl) Gravatt, San Dimas, Calif .; sister-in-law, Betty Recla, Ironwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Joan was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Recla, in 2000; brother, William Lynch Jr .; brother-in-law, Louis Recla; and sister-in-law, Sandy Lynch.

Out of respect for her wishes, cremation has taken place.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Spring interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.
