ONTONAGON - An attendance record was broken at the Ontonagon Theater of the Performing Arts Friday with the presentation of the "Christmas in the Snow."
More than 350 people packed the theater, where the previous record was 329.
This year marked the sixth annual Christmas show with performers Jim Jessup, Mike Urbis, Yvonne Blake and friends.
The music and comedy between Jessup and Urbis featured Urbis as the reindeer hauling Santa, played by Jessup on the sleigh, Urbis as a hobo going "Home for Christmas" and the gentle ribbing between the two.
Jennifer Weaver and daughters Veronica and Genevieve, and Jim Brogan brought the audience to their feet. The singing and piano work of Blake tied the entire program together.
The large crowd was fully engaged in some of the music. One of the highlights was the "Santa Baby" feature between Weaver and Urbis.
Proceeds from the show benefitted the Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital Foundation, which will be used to purchase two chemo chairs and a special chair to aid patients who can not stand.
