Lenore Irene (LaChapelle) Corullo

HURLEY, Wis. - Lenore Irene (LaChapelle) Corullo, 89, passed into Eternal Life on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, in Hurley.

Lenore was born on July 2, 1925, to John and Emma (Elsner) LaChapelle and lived in Bessemer her whole life. She attended Bessemer schools and graduated from A.D. Johnston High School with the class of 1943.

Lenore married Joseph Corullo on Nov. 16, 1946. He preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 2007, after 61 years together.

Lenore worked various jobs including for the rations board and as a hot lunch cook at the St. Sebastian School. She also worked at the cafeteria at Big Powderhorn Mountain with her sister Carmen Lukach and her sister-in-law Vicky Takala.

Lenore and Joe traveled for many years to beagle trials all over the Midwest, making many new friends along the way. After Joe's retirement, they had 20 years to enjoy bus trips to New York, Branson, Las Vegas and North Dakota. They loved polka dancing and danced wherever they could find music.

Lenore devoted her life to her family. She was a loving mother to two sons, the best mother-in-law and a sweet, spoiling grandma to six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Her biggest heartache was the death of her grandson, Kyle. Whenever she babysat for her grandchildren and was asked about their behavior, they were always "angels." Grandma and Grandpa always loved cheering for their sons and grandchildren in sports and all their activities.

Lenore was an excellent cook. Her specialties were raviolis, pasties, her delicious rabbit and pheasant, and her over-the-top Thanksgiving and Easter dinners. When her boys still lived at home and went out at night, no matter what time they came home, she hopped out of bed. She then made hamburgers and homemade French fries so they wouldn't go to bed hungry.

Lenore is survived by her two sons, Raymond (Patti) Corullo and grandson Deon Corullo of Grand Forks, N.D., a granddaughter Lisette (Josh) Traczyk and great-grandchildren Rhiya and Easton of Bessemer; and Dan (Lyn) Corullo of Ironwood and granddaughter Jamie (Nick) Gilbertson and great grandchildren Bryce and McKenna of Minocqua, Wis., grandson Cory (Chanda) Corullo and great grandchildren, Camryn, Cayden and Courtney of Montreal, Wis., grandson Ross (Amanda) Corullo and great-grandson Evan of Montreal.

Lenore is also survived by a sister, Margaret Picoldi of Wakefield; brothers-in-law Aldo"Cutso" and Phyllis Corullo of Bessemer, Peter (Marge) Fin of Minocqua; and a special niece DeeDee Laabs of Ironwood. Many more nieces, nephews and friends also survive.

Besides her husband and parents, Lenore was preceded in death by her grandson Kyle Roger Corullo; her great-granddaughter Liviya Raye Traczyk who she will now get to meet and hold in heaven; three brothers, Jack (Kay) LaChapelle, Vincent "Shavers" (Mary Ellen) LaChapelle and Francis LaChapelle; and four sisters, Carmen (Nick) Lukach, Dorothy (Norbert) Kopecko, Mae (Leno) Brentar and Della (James) Aspinwall; her best friend and sister-in-law Vicki (Henry) Takala; and brothers- and sisters-in-law; Mary and Chris Rigoni, Dominic and Elsie Corullo, Albin "Beno" Corullo and LeRoy Picoldi.

Lenore's family wishes to thank the staff at the Villa Maria for the excellent care, kindness and respect shown to Mom and her family for the last 3 1/2 years. We appreciate it more than you know.

Now you're in the arms of the angels. May joy and peace surround you and bless you forever. We'll miss you always.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, at the St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer at 11 a.m. Rev. Antony Lukka will be the celebrant. Lenore's family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church on Wednesday.

Spring Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Bessemer.

Range Funeral Service and Crematory and the Frick-Zielinski Funeral Home of Bessemer has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.

"I'm Spending Christmas with Jesus this year"

I see the countless Christmas trees around the world below,

With tiny lights like heaven's stars reflecting in the snow.

The sight is so spectacular please wipe away that tear

For I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear

But the sound of music can't compare with the Christmas choir up here.

I have no words to tell you of the joy their voices bring

For it is beyond description to hear the angels sing.

I know how much you'll miss me, I see the pain inside your heart

But I am not so far way, we really aren't apart.

So be happy for me dear ones, you know I hold you dear.

And be glad I'm spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

I sent you each a special gift from my heavenly home above,

I sent you each a memory of my undying love.

I can't tell you the splendor or the peace here in this place

Can you just image Christmas with our Savior face to face?

So let your hearts be joyful and let your spirit sing

For I am spending Christmas in Heaven and I'm walking with the King.

Please love and keep each other as my Father said to do

For I can't count the blessings of love He has for each of you.

So have a Merry Christmas and wipe away that tear.

Remember I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.
