RAMSAY, Mich. - James J. DaPra, 61, of Highland Avenue, Ramsay, Bessemer Township, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, in Ramsay.
He was born Oct. 18, 1953, in Wakefield, son of the late Alphonse and Elizabeth (Johnson) DaPra. James attended Ramsay schools and graduated from the A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer with the class of 1971. He also attended the Gogebic Community College in Ironwood, where he received an associate degree in culinary arts. James was employed at various restaurants.
From April 4, 1973, until April 1, 1977, he served in the U.S. Navy and was awarded with the National Defense Service Medal.
He is survived by three brothers; Arthur (Carol) DaPra of Racine, Wis., Charles (Shirley) DaPra of Jacksonville, Fla., and David (Jonelle Davidson) DaPra of Apple Valley, Minn .; four sisters, Barbara (Joe) Walli of Greenfield, Wis., Margaret "Maggie" (Dan) Re of Iron River, Mich., Patricia (Tom) Kulik of Kirkwood, Mo., and Michele (Jeff) Bria of Cottage Grove, Minn. Also surviving are special friends Ken and Betty Ahola of Ramsay, and many nieces and nephews.
Services and burial will take place in the spring at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Bessemer.
