IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. — Albert A. Haapala, 95, of Bruce Crossing, passed away Dec. 15, 2014, at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain.
Albert was born on Nov. 29, 1919, in Paynesville to Henry and Sofia (Morti) Haapala. Albert served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a light truck driver, and also worked as a truck driver for the Bruce Crossing dairy. He was a very talented guitar player and enjoyed playing in local establishments.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Waino, Eino and Ted; and sisters, Mary, Lempie and Elsie.
He is survived by his brother, George Haapala, and sister, Eileen Huhta, both of Bruce Crossing. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
A graveside service for Albert will take place in spring 2015 at the Hillside Cemetery in Bruce Crossing and will be announced. The Cane Funeral Home, Bruce Crossing Chapel, is assisting the family.
