WAKEFIELD, Mich. — Arvesta Violet Tibaldo, 74, of Wakefield, passed away Friday, Dec. 26, 2014.
Arvesta was born on July 30, 1940, in Thomaston, a daughter of Harvey and Dorothy (Newman) Grayson. She attended Wakefield High School and graduated in 1958.
On April 30, 1960, Arvesta was united in marriage to Orlando Louis Tibaldo in Wakefield. They made their home in Kenosha, Wis., and relocated to Wakefield in 1972.
She served as the girls’ track coach in Wakefield, winning numerous meets in the mid- to late 1970s.
Arvesta retired as an administrative assistant from Gogebic Medical Care Facility.
She was an active member of All Saints Lutheran Church quilting group. Her greatest passions were her flower and vegetable gardens and spending quality time with her family.
Arvesta is survived by two daughters, Julie (Jock) Hautala, Wakefield, and Tina (Dave) Trevarthen, Bessemer; a son, Joey, Wakefield; her son-in-law, Brian Cook, Manitowish Waters, Wis .; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Bonnie Dalbec, Debra Adams and Kim (Ken) Nordine, all of Wakefield, and Penny (Cliff) Cook, Iron Mountain; three brothers-in-law, Albert (Jeanne) Tibaldo and Joseph (Dorothy) Tibaldo, both of Ironwood, and Gary Seppa, Wakefield; two sisters-in-law, Mary Dooley, Milwaukee, and Cindy Grayson, Wakefield; an aunt, Vivian Bolen, Wakefield; an uncle, Bill (Carole) Newman, Ironwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orlando, on Oct. 1, 1982; a son, Brian, on July 23, 1978; a daughter, Rosemary Cook, on Dec. 14, 2014; two brothers, Keith and Rollen Grayson; a sister, Sheryle Seppa; and three brothers-in-law, John (Jean) Tibaldo, Bruno Tibaldo and Tom Dooley.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 30, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at All Saints Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kurt Kovanen officiating.
Lunch will be served in the church fellowship hall.
Interment will take place at a later date in Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield.
