MINOCQUA, Wis. — Christine L. Hotchkiss, 81, of Avanti Nursing Home, Minocqua, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2014.
She was born on Nov. 17, 1933, in Phillips, daughter of the late Edward and Delia (Plyer) Schilling.
On Nov. 17, 1951, she married William Hotchkiss in Ironwood, Mich.
Christine worked at various places throughout the northwoods including the original Lakeland Memorial Hospital as the head of laundry. Upon her husband’s retirement in 1986 she moved to Ironwood then returned to Woodruff in 2002. She found joy in socializing, working puzzles, attending church and knitting for others. Christine loved her family, and included in that group anyone who needed it.
Survivors include her two sons, Randall, of Wakefield, Mich., and Joseph (Sam), of Hazelhurst; two daughters, Marie (Robert) Johnson, of Lancaster, Carol (Roger) Cardinal, of Arbor Vitae; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Gloria (Francis) Strelcheck, of Bessemer, Mich., and Judith (Wayne) Baksic, of Mukwanago.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William; her brother, Edward Schilling, Jr .; a sister, Carol Vanderschaegen; a daughter, Roberta Held; and a grandson, Travis C. McGinnis.
Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 3, 2014, at 11 a.m., at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Minocqua, with the Pastor Lyle Luchterhand officiating.
Visitation will precede the service at the church from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
