Kenneth M. 'Kenny' Lahti

IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Kenneth M. "Kenny" Lahti, 50, of Airport Road, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014.

He was born June 1, 1964, in Ironwood, son of the Kenneth G. and Carol E. (Jarvi) Lahti.

Kenny attended the Roosevelt Grade School and graduated from the Luther L. Wright High School with the class of 1983. He moved out east to New Hampshire and worked in construction primarily as a mason. Before returning back home, he lived and was employed in Chassell and Land O' Lakes, also as a mason.

Throughout his life he enjoyed farming. Kenny was a "busy boy," he would take on a job and "get it done." He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying deer and bird hunting, as well as fishing. He especially enjoyed taking saunas.

He was a member of the Apostolic Lutheran Church in Ironwood, where he was also confirmed.

Kenny was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth, in 1970.

He is survived by his mother, Carol Lahti, of Ironwood Township; a son, Ken Jr .; and his son's mother, Kimberly, both of New Hampshire; and a brother, Kevin Lahti, of Ironwood Township. Also surviving are uncles, aunts, cousins, relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Apostolic Lutheran Church, 326 West Aurora Street, Ironwood, on Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, at 11 a.m. Rev. Bruce Estola will officiate. Kenny's family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Monday. Spring burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Bessemer.
