WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Sarah F. Aili, 79, of Ironwood, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, in Wakefield.
She was born Dec. 14, 1935, in Ironwood, to the late Henry and Minnie (Kangas) Aili.
Sarah graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood. She was a child care provider for the Aili and Kangas families, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She had also been employed at the Daily Globe in the mail room, was a ticket taker at the Gogebic County Fair, helped out at the Ironwood Senior Center, and was employed as custodian at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ironwood until her retirement.
Sarah had the gift of help, was a good listener, and had a good sense of humor. She enjoyed being with family and friends and doing word search puzzles at the nursing home. Sarah will be remembered by family members for her special baked sugar cookies.
She is survived by a nephew, Brad (Colleen) Aili, of Menominee Falls, Wis. She was also great grand-aunt to Emily, Matthew and Shaun Aili, of Menominee Falls; and is also survived by numerous cousins, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Henry, and his wife, Carol; a nephew, Gregory Aili; and a niece, Eva (Aili) Bennett.
A memorial service will be held Friday, June 19, 2015, at 11 a.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ironwood with Rev. Kurt Kovanen officiating. Family and friends will be received at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery.
