WAUSAU, Wis. - Elsie "Dolly" Murphy, 66, a resident of Ironwood for the last 24 years, died unexpectedly Monday, Dec. 29, 2014, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau.
She was born on Nov. 6, 1948, the the oldest child of the late Edward Spies, and Elsie Pedrin, of Wakefield, Mich., where she spent her youth helping with her younger siblings.
Elise spent her married life as a stay at home mother and wife on KI Sawyer Air Force Base in Marquette, Mich., raising her two daughters, Mary and Sherry.
She is survived by her mother, Elsie Pedrin, of Wakefield, Mich; children, Mary (John) Jasionek, of Illinois, and Sherry (Chad) Grindel, of New York; grandchildren, Hannah and Joseph Grindel, of New York; sisters, Beverly (Detlef) Liedtke, of Wakefield, Carolyn Kinnunen, Shirley Spies, Gloria Tessemer, Lucinda Williams, Julianne Roland, Betty Jackson, Gloria Gumm, Mary Pedrin, all of Ironwood, Mich., Linda Waara, of Sheboygan, MaryEllen Loveland, of Sparta and Phyllis Pollock of West Virginia; and brothers, Edward Spies, of Ironwood, Leonard Spies, of LaCrosse, Ross Parish, of Oregon, and Dave Pedrin and Bernie Pedrin, of Wakefield.
She was wonderful with children and loved spending time with her "grandbabies" and her numerous nieces and nephews.
