IRONWOOD - A small, but spirited group of people showed up for the annual Sisu snowshoe event on Sunday morning.
More than 30 participants raced in the 2K, 5K and 10K races.
The snowshoe races are typically held on Saturday during the Sisu Ski Fest, along with the rest of the events.
However, the race not only changed days, but also locations, moving from Milje's Trails in Wakefield to the Miners Memorial Heritage Park in Ironwood.
Sisu race director Jonathon Rulseh was pleased with hosting the snowshoe events on Sunday and said it worked well extending it to a second day. This also allowed for a new category for racers - the Sisu Combined.
Competitors were able to race both a Sisu ski race as well as a snowshoe event, either the full 42K marathon and the 10K snowshoe or the 21K half marathon and 5K.
The top three male and female winners of each the 10K and 5K snowshoe events, as well as the top male and female finishers each of the two combined events, received trophies Sunday morning.
The combined event winners also received a free entry for both events next year as well as a shirt.
The 42K/10K combined male winner was Brent Kann, of Eau Claire, Wis., and the female winner was Kaelyn Williams, of Golden Valley, Minn.
The 21K/5K combined male winner was Tim Fitzgerald and the female winner was Lily Wieringa, of Bessemer.
The top three male finishers for the 10K race was Rob Dukowitz, of Bayfield, Wis., in third place, Bob Sejbl, of Ironwood, in second and Brent Kann in first.
The top female finisher for the 10K was Williams who was also the only entry for that race.
The top three male finishers for the 5K race was Fitzgerald in third place, Mike McPherson, of Ironwood, in second and Jim Stevens of Cottage Grove, Wis., in first.
The top three female finishers for the 5K race was Wieringa in third place, Donna Gering, of Ironwood, in second and Grace Hogan, of Bayfield, Wis., in first.
All participants who did not win a trophy, received a medal for finishing the race.
