PARK FALLS, Wis. — Lillian M. Sauer, 103, of Mercer, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at Park Manor Nursing Home in Park Falls.
The former Lillian Heinlien was born Aug. 13, 1911, in Chicago, daughter of the late Charles and Emma Heinlien, and graduated from Lindbloom High School in Chicago. She then worked as a switchboard operator with Illinois Bell Telephone Co. at Marshall Fields , retiring as office manager. She moved to Mercer in 1984.
Lillian was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Mercer and the former Ladies Crafters. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
She was married to Otto Sauer. He preceded her in death in January 1967.
Surviving are a son, Ronald, of Mercer; granddaughter, Juyne Sauer, Houston; two great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, Lillian was preceded in death by a son, Norman; granddaughter Rhonda Sauer; great-grandson, Matthew Mendicott; and two sisters, Juanita and Ruth.
Private family services will be held.
Interment will be in Bethania Cemetery, Justice, Ill.
McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, Inc., Ironwood, Mich., is in charge of arrangements.
