HURLEY - Hurley rolled past Mellen 54-25 Tuesday night in Indianhead Conference action.
"We played much better defense tonight and we had a lot better energy throughout the game," Hurley coach Steve Eder said. "We shot well right out of the gate. We hit our first couple buckets."
Kirkie Pecotte led Hurley with 11 points. Eleven players scored for the Midgettes.
"We fouled a little more than I'd like in the first half with eight fouls, but overall our energy was a lot better than it was last night," Eder said.
Mikayla Kretzschmar led Mellen with 10 points.
Hurley (12-3, 9-2) hosts Wakefield-Marenisco Thursday with first place in the East Division on the line.
"They're a good team," Eder said. "They have a good coach, they're scrappy. We're looking forward to it, that's for sure. We've had this game on our minds for a little bit now and luckily we only have a day to go and we can out and play it. As long as we play within ourselves and play the kind of basketball we've been playing the last couple months, it should be a really good game."
