MARSHFIELD, Wis. — Mary Jo Livingston of Bruce Crossing, Mich., (resident of Three Rivers, Mich., until 2006) passed away on Jan. 24, 2015, at St. Joseph Medical Hospital in Marshfield after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Kalamazoo County, Mich., on March 23, 1940, to the late Elmer and Hilma Houts. Mary Jo married her beloved husband of 55 years, Darwin, on Aug. 29, 1959. In 1977, she received her master’s degree from Western Michigan University. Mary Jo then taught middle school in Three Rivers until her retirement in 1999.
She was preceded in death by her son, Mark.
Mary Jo is survived by her husband, Darwin, of Bruce Crossing; daughters, Cristina Livingston, of Denver, Colo., Peggy (Jeff) Roach, of Boulder, Colo .; son, Michael Livingston, of Bruce Crossing; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Lewis (Edie) Houts, of Plano, Texas, and Dr. Larry Houts, of San Diego, Calif .; sisters, Betty (Phil) Knapp, of Lawton, Mich., and Martha (Carl) Stakes, of Kerrville, Texas.
