John Robert 'Bob' Wiita

MADISON, Wis. - John Robert "Bob" Wiita, 53, formerly of Iron Belt, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015.

He leaves behind three beautiful children, Angeline, Michael and Madelyn Wiita; along with his parents, Edward "John" and Donna Wiita; sister, Lori (Eric) Estabrook; niece, Alicia Estabrook; nephew, Gareth Estabrook; cousin, Dan Zizzo; and other numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Bob was a graduate of J.E. Murphy High School in Hurley, and from there went on to achieve his bachelor's degree in criminal justice  from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Mich., was his next endeavor before he then became an insurance agent for USF&G Insurance Company, specializing in commercial insurance. Bob owned and operated Wiita Insurance Agency in Hurley. His experience in law along with commercial insurance enabled him to develop and patent a specialized workman's compensation policy designed for the American Native Indian Nationwide reservation casinos.

Bob's present pastime and biggest joy was spending time with his family, especially his children. They did many activities together constantly, being it skiing at Whitecap, swimming at Weber Lake, camping, boating or running a trap line, they were always together and busy. He will be immensely missed by those three precious children, along with family and friends.

A gathering in celebration of Bob's life will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, from 1 to 3 p.m., with a time for sharing of memories at 2:30 p.m., at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood, Mich.

A reception will follow at Tacconelli's in downtown Ironwood.

Spring burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Iron Belt.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Wiita family for establishment of a children's trust fund, in care of Donna Wiita, P.O. Box 125, Iron Belt, WI 54536.
