BULLHEAD CITY, Arizona - Illeene Yvonne Basom, 79, passed away January 17, 2015, in Bullhead City, Arizona.
Illeene was born, September 4, 1935, in Hudson, Michigan, daughter of Ivan and Violet Frederick. In 1954, she married Myron Basom. After settling near Jackson, Michigan, the couple and their six children moved to Kimball, Wisconsin, where they operated a family mink farm for several years. Illeene also worked at Superior Audio Visual, Highline Corporation and was clerk for the town of Kimball. In the 1990s, Myron and Illeene relocated to Bullhead City, where Illeene worked at the Flamingo Hilton Casino in Laughlin, Nevada, until she retired. Myron and Illeene celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in September 2014.
Illeene is survived by her husband, Myron; six children, Debbie Branham, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Sandy (Werner) Imre, Goodyear, Arizona, Donald (Jean), Kimball, Greg (Debbie), Winter Haven, Florida, Ron (Joyce), Wakefield, Michigan, and Judy Clark, Mableton, Georgia; a sister, Roberta (Don) Fulmer, Georgia; and sister-in-law, Marge Hughes, Florida; 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; mother and father-in law; three brothers, Ivan, Richard and Dean Frederick; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Lewis.
Illeene loved spending time with her family and friends and always had a joke or story to tell. Her hobbies included crocheting, cooking and baking, antiquing and playing cards and bingo. She will especially be remembered for the beautiful afghans that she lovingly created for family and friends and for whipping up five or six pies in an afternoon.
She will be missed forever.
