EWEN - The home of John and Mary Nordine on Cedar Street in Ewen was destroyed in a fire in the early morning hours Thursday.
The couple and their three children were able to evacuate the home safely.
McMillan Township Supervisor Dan Staff said it was unsure what caused the fire.
"All we know is that when (the fire department) got there, half the house was already up in flames," he said.
McMillan Township Fire Department firefighters arrived at the home sometime after 1 a.m. The fire department responded quickly, but was unable to save the house from major destruction.
Sometime after 9 a.m., the fire department was again called out because a lot of smoke was coming from the house.
According to a neighbor, community members and neighbors are already looking into ways to assist the family and will be contacting the American Red Cross.
