HURLEY, Wis. — Betty L. Oldenburg, 83, of Hurley, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2015, in Hurley with her great-nephew at her side. She was born on Jan. 29, 1932, in Hiles, Wis., daughter of the late Curtis and Carrie (Combs) Gumm. As a child, she attended school in Marenisco and Wakefield, Mich.
In 1951, Betty was united in marriage with Carl Syrja. He preceded her in death in 1981. She then married Lloyd Oldenburg in 1983. He preceded her in death in 2000.
Betty was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hurley.
Betty is survived by two brothers, two sisters, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her husbands and parents, Betty was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.
Services will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be in the Highland Memorial Park in New Berlin, Wis.
Betty’s family would like to thank Regional Hospice and the staff at Sky View Nursing Home for the excellent care and compassion given to Betty.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Sky View Nursing Center, Activities Department.
Arrangements are by Range Funeral Service and Crematory, Ketola-Burla Funeral Home of Ironwood.
