MOUNTAIN HOME, Idaho - Donald John Best, age 75, of Mountain Home, Idaho, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2015, at a Mountain Home care center.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2015, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel and burial with military honors to follow at Mountain View Cemetery, in Mountain Home, Idaho.
Don was born June 29, 1939, in Wakefield, Mich., the son of John Charles and Adele Lillian Best.
While serving with the U.S. Air Force, Don was stationed at numerous bases around the world; George AFB in California, England AFB in Louisiana, Upper Heyford AFB in the United Kingdom, Clovis AFB in New Mexico, Camp New Amsterdam in the Netherlands, and Mountain Home Air Force Base, where they made their permanent home after Don's retirement.
Don was a great story teller and he also had a nickname for all of his friends. Don loved to hunt, fish, camp and woodwork. Don hated yard work!
Don is survived by his wife of 51 years, Gail L. Best; his daughter, Dawn D. Best; granddaughter, Isabella Grace Best; and one sister, Betty A. Best.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, John and Louella Best and Frank and Lillian Mattson; and one nephew, Lee David Paynter.
