IRONWOOD, Mich. – Robert Edyvean III, 67, of Leonard Street, Ironwood, passed away Friday, March 27, 2015, at home with his family by his side.
He was born Oct. 8, 1947, in Ironwood, son of the late Robert and Julia (Shoquist) Edyvean Jr. Robert attended local schools and graduated from the Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood with the class of 1966.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from 1966 until 1971. Robert served aboard the USS Independence and was decorated with the National Defense Service Medal, Navy Unit Commendation and the Meritorious Unit Commendation.
He was employed at various jobs including logging, the Pat O'Donnell Civic Center and Twin City Dairy. He was last employed by Community Mental Health as a caregiver. Robert was a hard worker. He was also a volunteer coach for Little League baseball.
He enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed cooking, especially at camp. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was very involved in the lives of his nieces and nephews. He was loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend to all. He will be dearly missed by everyone including his life-long friend, Russ Anderson, with whom he hunted and fished with.
On Dec. 31, 1976, he was married to the former Betty Jean Sherbino in Bessemer, she survives. Also surviving is a son, Robert (Jennifer) Edyvean IV of Rhinelander; and a daughter, Tammy Ann (Randy Guski) of Ironwood; grandchildren, Zachary Robert, Sadie Lynn, Trevor Lee and Carissa Elizabeth; sisters, Donna (Samuel) Orr of Ironwood and Faye (Ron) LaJoice of Saxon, Wis .; sister-in-law, Sandy Edyvean of Ironwood; many nieces and nephews and relatives.
Besides his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Bruce Edyvean in 2012.
Funeral Services will be held at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Ironwood on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at 11 a.m. Pastor Rosemary DeHut will officiate. Robert's family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Tuesday. Full military rites will be accorded by the Ironwood American Legion Post 5 Honor Guard. A luncheon will follow the service in the church hall.
Range Funeral Service and Crematory and the Ketola-Burla Funeral Home of Ironwood has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
